Bahrain to enforce reciprocity in Visa rules

Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa with Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa

The General Directorate for Nationality, Passports and Residence (GDNPR) is to enforce the principle of reciprocal treatment with countries which require Bahrainis to get issued with prior visas.

Bahraini authorities had to deport eight US nationals earlier this week after they allegedly caught red-handed taking part in the illegal protests in Bahrain hence, falsifying the visa rules as all of them entered the Kingdom on tourist visas.

Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa received Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, who outlined (GDNPR) rules and regulations, which would take effect on finalizing required executive procedures and coordinating with concerned authorities.

While reaffirming Bahrain’s keenness to provide all facilities for visitors, businessmen and investors, Lt. Gen Shaikh Rashid said that some parties exploit these streamlined measures and get issued with visas at entry points, only to violate rules and regulations, hence the decision to review and regulate entry and visa-issuance procedures without impacting streamlined entry measures.

Assistant Undersecretary for entry points, search and follow-up Brigadier-General Yusuf Al-Ghatam and Assistant Undersecretary for nationality, passports and residence affairs Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al-Khalifa were also present.
