Human Rights and Social Development Minister and Acting Health Minister Dr. Fatima bint Mohammed Al-Balooshi attended the opening session of the World Social Economic Summit, in Vienna, Austria.
She has been invited to attend the global event in recognition of the ministry’s crucial role in fostering the concept of social economy and development partnership. The ministry is also credited for establishing the Family Bank – the first social bank of its king providing micro social financing for low-income households, women and jobless people. An exhibition has also been opened on the sidelines of the World Social Economic Summit.
Dr. Al-Balooshi also features among the main speakers.
The minister also met World Social Economic Summit president and founder of Bangladeshi Grameen Bank Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Mohammed Yunus, in the presence if Family Bank chief executive officer Dr. Atef Al-Shabrawi.
The two sides discussed cooperation between Bahrain-based Family Bank and Grameen Bank.
