HRH Premier received on Tuesday the Minister of State for Telecommunications Affairs Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa who introduced to the Premier a number of citizens and residents who are regular users of social networks
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has affirmed his interaction with twitter people whose tweets, he said, shape part of the public opinion and, therefore, should be taken into consideration and analysed.

He urged optimal use of social networks to defend national interests, unity and achievements, noting that every twitter user is a medium of information whose influence goes beyond the country.

He praised the efforts of those who use modern technology and means of communication to defend Bahrain’s ruling system and society, expressing deep regret over the ungratefulness of those who use social media networks to post destructive criticism of the homeland, government and people.

This came as HRH Premier received on Tuesday the Minister of State for Telecommunications Affairs Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa who introduced to the Premier a number of citizens and residents who are regular users of social networks.

HRH Prime Minister called upon all twitter people to use social networks to defend Bahrain and counter attempts to distort its civilisation, reform approach and democratic development.

“Face whoever posts tweets to target Bahrain,” he told the audience, urging them to expose those who allow themselves to be used by foreign sides against the nation.

“The nation embraces all, as it is a country of co-existence and tolerance, and there is no place for hatred and divide,” he said.

HRH Premier called on users of social networks to adhere to the Bahraini society’s traditions and genuine values based on respect while surfing the net, and be aware and vigilant of the campaigns staged against Bahrain through those networks, stressing the need to shun cyber platforms that disseminate hatred and try to divide society.

He thanked all loyal Bahraini users who volunteered to defend their nation against the evil campaigns to undermine their country’s landmark achievements through lies and fallacies, using facts and credible information.

He voiced pride in those who took personal initiatives and assumed their patriotic duties of defending the homeland, noting that during the regretful events that the Kingdom went through, “twitter’, along with other social networks, recorded memorable “battles” in defence of Bahrain.

He asserted his personal follow up and interest in what is being posted on social networks because it represents part of the public opinion, urging twitter people to be cautious in what they post or read, and place national interests at the top, given the widespread impact of such a social network.

He told the audience that directives have already been issued to the ministries especially service ones, to have continuous contacts with people through “twitter”, which has become the fastest means of communication with the citizens.

Users of social networks affirmed that they have been inspired by HRH Premier’s statesmanship, expressing strong resolve to continue posting tweets that expose plotters against the cherished land, defend right and criticise those who do not assume their roles in the best way.

They requested HRH Premier to apply the law against users whose accounts incite hatred, violence, and cause harm to the nation, as well as its leaders and security forces.

They praised HRH Premier’s interest in the issues raised in social networks and media outlets and keenness to respond to them quickly.
