RUW students visit China

총 21 students from the Faculties of Business & Financial Sciences, I.T and Art and Design embarked on a ten day visit to China. They spent five days in Beijing and five days in Hong Kong.

The purpose of the visit was to expose students to the booming Chinese economy and cultural feats.

During their stay students toured the financial districts and stock exchange; namely Hong Kong Head Quarter of HSBC and International Financial Centre (IFC), International Commercial Centre (ICC) and Sky 100. Students also partook on cultural and historical tours, walking along the Great Wall (Ju Yong Guan), exploring the Ming Tombs, Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Beijing Olympic City, Hong Kong Museum of History and ascending Victoria Peak.

Students got an insight into the art of Jade and Porcelain sculpting whilst visiting workshops with gifts specific to the workshops, attached. Students also mastered the art of haggling during their visits to the Beijing Silk Market. Whilst in Hong Kong, students took a ferry ride across the Victoria Harbour to witness the spectacular Symphony of Lights.

An enlightening visit to Tiananmen Square gave the students one of the most important facts about the history of China with regards to Chairman Mao Zedong, leader of the Chinese Revolution.

Fun days out comprised of visits to Disneyland Park and the thrilling Ocean Park Theme Park and Waterfront. For relaxing evening entertainment, students witnessed the amazing talents of Chinese Acrobatics and a memorable, authentic Peking Opera.
