VIVA customers can now stay in touch with Facebook through a new initiative formed between the two organizations making VIVA the first operator to launch such services in the Kingdom.
This was announced today as VIVA activated its Facebook SMS allowing both postpaid and prepaid customers to continue their virtual life on Facebook through SMS messages.
Facebook, one of the world’s leading social networking sites signed the deal with VIVA Bahrain to make it the first telecom operator in the Kingdom of Bahrain to offer such a service.
VIVA customers can now update their status, poke and add friends along with receiving instant notification of Facebook updates through SMS.
“VIVA Bahrain has taken a keen interest in the digital life of customers. The Facebook community in Bahrain is huge and we wanted to provide customers with an easier method of interaction,” said VIVA’s Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew Hanna.
Customers can benefit from the services by activating the option online through the account setting and then clicking on mobile and turning on the mobile text feature. The charge of sending the SMS is based on the standard VIVA charges for SMS, while receiving messages is free of charge.
Facebook, created back in 2004, has over 500 million users worldwide. The online community allows users to create profiles, add friends and exchange messages. It also allows users to join common interest groups.
