Bahrain City Centre took Bahrain’s market by storm this winter holiday season with the largest ever display of a ‘Giant Mannequin’ , the 5-meter high Apple Lady icon stood tall in the shopping mall’s Centre Court and welcomed visitors to guess the unknown amount of apples up until January 15th.
The iconic Apple Lady figure that inaugurated the Centre’s ‘Guess & Win’ campaign on 20th December 2010 was a huge success, with customers excited in hope of being the lucky winner of one of 28 iPads every day. Visitors also had the chance to redeem their BD 20 receipts at Customer Service in exchange for coupons and the unbeatable opportunity to win the Grand Apple prize package, valued at more than BD 3,500, if they could correctly guess the number of apples making up the Apple Lady’s outfit. After a long wait in anticipation, on the 16th January 2011, these winners were finally revealed with the Grand Prize going to Ms. Najat Mohamed from Bahrain and the Apple iPads going to a total of 28 winners.
“We are regular shoppers at Bahrain City Centre and my family and I are so happy to win the Grand Prize,” said Ms. Najat Mohamed, Winner of the Apple Grand Prize.
“The Apple theme generated a large appreciation which promotes a healthy diet, and for the ‘Guess & Win’ contest, which got so many of our customers asking, ‘how many apples are there on the Apple Lady’s dress?’ From the initial 50,000 coupons we had made available for our customers, we had to order 20,000 more to cater to the high demand. We at Bahrain City Centre congratulate all who won and we wish our customers the best in health for the winter season.” said Ray Scott, General Manager of Bahrain City Centre.
“Money is not as important as the understanding of our needs and contributions made to us by corporations,” said Alaa Budalama, Educational Specialist of Care at the Royal Charity Organization, in his thanks to Bahrain City Centre and Majid Al Futtaim Properties for their community service.
Furthermore, the Bahrain City Centre Apple Lady’s dress will also live on as a contribution to the fashion design students from the Royal University for Women who will re-sew the fabric of the Apple Lady to create their own fashion designs. Seven senior students and 12 freshers will be participating from the University.
“At Royal University for Women we encourage our students to participate in activities that facilitate community engagement. We are extremely excited to have been approached by Bahrain City Centre for this creative activity. Being the only fashion institute we are always looking for such opportunities for our Fashion students as we strongly believe in re-use and conservation. In addition, this will definitely give a great opportunity to our students (budding designers) to showcase their talent,” said Dr. Mona Suri, Dean – Faculty of Art & Design.
