Chevrolet Camaro has been named the “hottest car” at this year’s 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The inaugural SEMA Award recognized the most accessory-friendly new models, based on the number of vehicles exhibited and the Chevrolet Camaro proved yet again to be the car of choice for all the driving enthusiasts out there.
“A booth space is a ballot, and the models these exhibitors have selected represent their vote,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO.
According to SEMA, exhibitors manufacture thousands of products that improve performance, convenience, appearance and comfort. While products are available for every make and model vehicle, exhibitors are investing more into the Chevrolet Camaro than any other car. Consumers, therefore, can expect to find more options for personalizing their Camaro.
“More than any other venue, the cars exhibitors and attendees brought to SEMA embodied the passion and excitement of car enthusiasts everywhere,” said John Fitzpatrick, Chevrolet Performance Cars marketing manager. “Based on the sheer number of Camaros displayed on the floor, and parked in the adjacent lots, the Camaro is clearly the hottest car of the show.”
Chevrolet’s SEMA exhibit also introduced a new concept for a cohesive design approach to Chevrolet accessories and the best of the aftermarket, with a trio of show cars featuring the brand’s new family of small cars.
The Z-Spec Concept represented Chevrolet designers’ ideas for a potential line of accessories, and will be showcased via concept versions of the all-new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze compact, as well as the new Volt extended-range electric vehicle and the future Chevrolet Spark minicar.
Chevrolet also showcased concepts that extend the design and performance attributes of its performance cars, with a series of Camaro and Corvette concepts, including show cars emphasizing new expressions of each car’s track capabilities. Chevrolet also announced a new special edition model for Camaro that will be produced in 2011, the Camaro Synergy Series 2011.
Two additional Camaro models were introduced as SEMA concepts, the Camaro Red Flash and the Camaro SSX Track Car, each containing a blend of Chevrolet Accessories and new concepts from Chevrolet designers.
Concurrently, two Corvette concepts, the Z06X Track Car and Corvette Jake were unveiled, offering different expressions of the car’s track accomplishments. “SEMA 2010 provides an ideal platform to Chevrolet to showcase new products like the all-new Cruze compact and the revolutionary new Volt,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “Car and truck enthusiasts have a natural connection to Chevrolet, and we intend to extend that with new design concepts and accessories aiming to make our products even more inspiring to customizers.”
GM Performance Parts used the SEMA as a platform to expand its series of E-ROD crate engines, the only high-performance V-8 engines that are designed to meet new emissions regulations being enacted in many states for vintage and classic cars.
