A new social centre that will be named after Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and Chairwoman of Supreme Council for Women, will soon open its doors in the Southern Governorate.
This was announced during a ceremony marking 33 years since the establishment of the Kingdom’s first social centre Ibn Khuldoon Social Centre in Arad, held under the patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka.
Princess Sabeeka while touring Ibn Khuldoon Social Centre hailed its historical significance as the first of its kind to be built in Bahrain. She also called for the need to carry on supporting social centres so as to be tools of social development in the Kingdom.
The centre that will provide exemplary services for the needs of the Bahraini society is named after HRH Princess Sabeeka as it highlights her role in supporting such initiatives to serve the community, said the Social Development Minister, Dr.Fatima Al Balooshi.
She extended her heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Princess Sabeeka for patronising the event that reflects her keen interest to promote social work, asserting that social centres will carry on their efforts in the service of the Bahraini society.
At the event 54 retired and present employees and administrators of the social centres were honoured by Princess Sabeeka in recognition of the effective endeavours they have made in the service of the Bahraini citizens..
Later, a documentary film highlighting the march of social centres in Bahrain and the crucial role played by the Social Development Ministry in supporting them was shown.
