His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued a Royal Decree no 14 for 2011 reshuffling the cabinet.
Dr. Majeed bin Mohsen Al Alawi and Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza have been appointed as ministers of housing and energy respectively.
Dr. Nazar Al Baharna takes over as health minister while Jameel bin Mohammed Humaidan has been promoted to the position of labour minister in the new-look government.
HM the King has also appointed Kamal Ahmed as Cabinet Affairs Minister, while the newly-appointed Energy Minister Dr. Miza will also be in charge of oil, electricity and water affairs.
HM the King received at Al Safriya Palace, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, the newly-appointed ministers who took their oath. HM the King congratulated them on their appointment, wishing them success in assuming this national responsibility and serving their citizens and country.
“The march of development and reform momentum is continuing unabatedly, armed with a strong will and a high morale, and in cooperation with all sections of Bahrain people”, he said.
He urged team work to upgrade services, improve living standards, citing health facilities, housing projects and educational schemes. He also stressed the need to boost state revenues, protect public money and promote productivity, underscoring the importance of cooperation and coordination between the executive authority, the legislature and judiciary to ensure more progress and development.
HM the King paid tribute to the outgoing ministers, lauding their efforts in serving the nation and citizens. In line with the string of new measures, HM the King ordered the newly-appointed housing minister to slash the monthly installments by 25 per cent. The royal initiative will benefit 35, 878 Bahraini families. The minister has also been instructed to speed up programmes and plans for the upcoming housing projects to meet people’s needs and ensure them decent housing across Bahrain.
HRH the Premier extended thanks to HM the King for entrusting the government to initiate more reforms in all fields, hailing the present landmark development march under His Majesty. “The newly-appointed ministers will contribute, along with their colleagues in the Government, in doubling efforts to achieve all desired goals and aspirations towards more progress and prosperity”, he said.
