The Kingdom of Bahrain has entered into a new era of national cohesion, stability and security, according to HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Force.
The Crown Prince in his brief appearance on the Bahrain TV urged for calm, asking citizens to unite and cooperate with all political forces in the country.
Following the directives of the HRH Crown Prince to withdraw military, thousands of protesters reoccupied the Pearl Roundabout on Saturday afternoon.
“I stress, once more, that our duty is to preserve security and stability, to ensure that there is no discord and that the situation does not worsen,” HRH Prince Salman said.
HRH Shaikh Salman called for a national day of mourning “for the sons we have lost.
“Join us to calm the situation, so that we can announce a day of mourning for our lost sons.”
The moment people heard the news, crowds had approached Pearl Square in the capital by using all routes and most of them were cheering and were in festive mood, a rare glimpse after two days of sheer tension between the protesters and the law enforcing agencies.
The protesters, most of them in their twenties and thirties waved national flags and entered the once the ‘no go area’ reoccupied the historic roundabout which links Manama Capital with the rest of the country.
Prince Salman announced that all troops had been ordered off the streets and that police would maintain order.
HRH Prince Salman also called upon the media to observe the caution while covering the unfolding events in Bahrain as objectivity is a key of responsible media.
