The outside world must see the unfolding events in Bahrain objectively, according to the Foreign Minister of Bahrain Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed.
In an exclusive statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), he was referring particularly to the countries which rushed to condemn the stance of Bahrain government and urged them ‘to scrutinize the reality of developments in Bahrain.’
“Certain media failed to project the true picture about Bahrain, falling into exaggeration, blowing things of proportion and publishing erroneous things”, he said. He described dialogue as a civilised way and step on the right path to overcome all problems. “Dialogue is no new thing as Bahrain has already engaged early stages of such a constructive process”, he said, citing the national dialogue which was launched ten years ago and yielded the National Action Charter. “The national dialogue has been engaged now, which convinces the world that Bahrainis know how to settle their problems in a civilised way”, he said. He acknowledged a tangible change in the picture of Bahrain following the call for national dialogue launched by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander. “Many countries in the world have understood the truth about Bahrain and reconsidered their idea”, he said, pointing out that Bahrain stills enjoys security and stability and that there are opinions debated at the dialogue table. He sounded optimistic about the success of the call for national dialogue, hoping the process will start soon. He also urged all parties to respond positively to the national call, sit at the same table, debate ideas and stand united for Bahrain to overcome challenges confronting the country. He also stressed the firm keenness of the GCC countries in Bahrain’s security and stability, being inseparable from regional stability. In this regard, he cited the final statement issued by the GCC extraordinary foreign ministers’ meeting, recently held in Manama. Shaikh Khalid also hailed the call made by Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for youngsters to engage in a constructive dialogue and suggest proposals regarding all issues of concern to Bahrain.
