GPIC firmly believes in investing in human capital as the Company’s success is closely linked to the quality of people on the ground, a top official at the GPIC said.
“GPIC considers its Bahraini employees as the real wealth and basis for all international, regional and local achievements of the Company,” said GPIC President Abdul Rahman Jawahery.
Jawahery, who during the briefing the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Dr Juma bin Ahmed Al Kaabi during a visit to the GPIC Complex, also gave a detailed insight on Company’s modern management systems as well as the training programmes aimed at developing its employees and qualify them for occupying senior positions.
The Minister was also briefed on the corporate culture and management programmes provided for the employees which reflects the Company’s keenness to develop its national workforce and provide them with the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge for their respective jobs.
Jawahery also briefed the Minister about the GPIC’s operations and corporate philosophy which enabled it’s management to win numerous international awards and good reputation on the world markets.
“The increased focus of the Company upon modern management systems, training programmes for staff development, care for environmental projects and promotion of agriculture as well as keen interest in increasing the cultivated areas were reasons for the Company’s keen desire to enhance bilateral co-operation in this field with the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry,” Jawahery added.
The Minister was informed about GPIC’s achievements in the areas of productivity, safety, marketing and environmental protection.
In addition to a visit to the Training Centre and E-Learning Centre, the Minister also toured of the Company’s plants and environmental projects that reflect a beautiful harmony between industry and the environment.
The Minister started his tour by inspecting the Princess Sabeeka Perfumed Plant Garden which was recently inaugurated under the patronage of Her Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women. Later, the Minister visited the Folk Medicines Plant and Herb Garden, which is part of the Company’s commitment to preserve the rate medical herbs that are used for medical purposes.
The Minister planted a palm tree marking his visit to the GPIC Complex which followed by inspection of the environmental projects such as the Charity Fish Farm and Bird Sanctuary.
GPIC President Abdul Rahman Jawahery gifted 1000 bags (around 50 tons) of urea produced by the Company to be distributed by the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry to local farmers.
This initiative comes upon the directives of Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Industrial and Oil Affairs and GPIC Chairman to coincide with the national initiative for the development of the farming sector launched by Her Highness Pricess Sabeeka bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of the Initiative’s Consultative Council. The move aims at unifying the efforts concerned with the agricultural sector with the aim of reaching new and broader horizons and increasing the contribution of the agricultural sector to the GDP. The initiative is consistent with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the Strategic Social Plan 2014.
Dr Juma bin Ahmed Al Kaabi, expressed his pleasure with this visit and admiration of this major edifice which was a successful example of close Gulf co-operation.
