The Education Ministry’s Public Relations and Information Directorate denied in a statement rumours that the ministry was planning to close down educational institutions for the next four days due to the situation in the country.
In a statement the spokesman stressed that schools would remain open and the all activities would remain uninterrupted.
Concerning the situation at schools on the resumption day after the vacation on Sunday, the statement added that despite some discouraging calls, most of the students have gone back to their schools and most of the schools were able to operate normally.
“School attendance in Muharraq, the Southern Governorate and most of the Central Governorate was normal while in Manama and the Northern Governorate showed a partial attendance.”
“In some schools, teachers observed a sit in protest in front of the school gates giving the impression that there was no activity and everybody was on strike thus leading many students to go back home or stay wandering in the streets,” the statement added.
The statement added that many parents had filed complaints expressing disappointment at depriving their children of their inalienable right to education.
