International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, which has MENA offices in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE (Abu Dhabi and Dubai), has advised the National Oil and Gas Authority of Bahrain (NOGA) on a long-term Exploration Production Sharing Agreement with US oil and gas company Occidental Petroleum.
Under the transaction, Occidental has committed to a work programme, as set by NOGA, for the exploration of gas. The programme includes the drilling of exploratory wells to depths in excess of 16,000ft onshore in the Bahrain Field.
“We are delighted to have been able to help the NOGA again on another landmark project for the Kingdom,” said Joe Huse, Managing Partner, MENA.
Other members of the team included Jon Rees (corporate partner, London), Harnek Shoker (head of Bahrain office), Payvand Vahdat (senior associate, finance, Abu Dhabi) and Cordelia Kelly (associate, corporate, London).
“The successful conclusion of this deal demonstrates our close business relationship with NOGA and the different facets of the Government of Bahrain and we are proud to have been involved in this transaction,” added Freshfields head of Bahrain office, Harnek Shoker.
