THE 8th Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) 2011 will be held next week under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
BIGS will be opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King , Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and President of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) on February 25 at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre (BIECC).
“The event will attract 88 Arab and foreign exhibitors from the UAE, South Africa, Italy, Spain, Tunisia, Syria, Kuwait, China and Japan”, BIGS general coordinator Shaikha Maram bin Isa Al Khalifa said.
She was speaking at a press conference held at the BIECC Al Nakhla Hall to shed light of preparations for the annual event. In order to ensure the success of the event, BIGS’ organising committee has made a partnership agreement with the United National Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) in order to take advantage of its advanced agricultural experience.
This year, the BIGS will carry a strong message to promote sustainable agricultural practices. This critical world issue will be highlighted in a comprehensive display showing the different roles that individuals, companies and policy makers can play in ensuring the best utilization of precious resources and a better future for the generations to come.
The event will be open to the public from February 25 to 27, from 10am to 9pm. The entry fee is 500 fils for a three-day pass and for children up to 12 is free.
