Over 300,000 Bahrainis and residents took part in a rally on Monday evening held in the premises of Al Fateh Mosque Complex and supported the Government and leadership with a single voice.
The participants demanded an immediate end to the ongoing protests and attempts of certain quarters of the society to divide the country on basis of sect.
The participants in the rally, which is considered one of the largest in the history of the Kingdom, chanted slogans “Bahrain is one nation” and will remain a country of peace, love and fraternity.
The rally was also addressed by the leaders who urged the all sects to live in peace and friendly atmosphere in the country and reject the calls of division between Shia and Sunni.
A leading shari’a scholar Dr. Abdullatif Mahmoud Al-Mahmoud in his address urged for greater national unity to steer out the Kingdom out of the present crisis.
Al-Mahmoud appealed that the national unity would further strengthen the hands of the leadership and the legitimacy of the existing regime.
He stressed the country’s stability would remain top priority and expressed the deep regret and sorrow over the deaths during the past week during the protests.
Al-Mahmoud said that the reforms initiative which started ten years ago was the beginning of a change to the better, and will continue to progress and develop the country.
He called upon all citizens, especially young people to work on calming the situation and to embark on a comprehensive national dialogue of all national powers and spectra.
“We call on people from all communities to uphold the values of national unity and to reject sectarian practices, and to stand with each other to claim the legitimate rights of the political, social, and call on people to unite and compassion with each other, and to protest through peaceful means and national spirit and to accept the opinion of others.”
Other scholars including Abdul Aziz Mir, Dr Isa Al Mutawa, Shaikh Adel Al Muawda, Dr Adel Abdullah, Abdul Hamid Abdul-Jabbar Al Kooheji, and Hakim al-Shammari also urged the people of Bahrain to discourage all attempts aimed at dividing the society on wrong perceptions.
