One of the protestors, Ali Abdulhadi Mushaima died on Monday while scores of others got injured, after clashing with police during anti-government demonstrations.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Interior said that Fadhel Salman Matrook died in hospital due to injuries he sustained during a clash with police at the funeral of Ali Mushaima, taking the number of deaths to two during the past 48 hours of protests in Bahrain.
The Minister of Interior Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa offered condolences and deep sympathy to the family of Mushaima. Mushaima died of injuries he sustained during a clash in Daih.
The Minister said a probe would be launched into the case to find out the reasons and circumstances for the use of an arm. He affirmed that if the probe revealed no legally tenable reason behind the use of the arm, then legal steps would be taken to refer the person behind the incident to the criminal court.
The Chief of Public Security said on Tuesday said that some participants in the funeral procession of Ali Abdulhadi Mushaima clashed with the four police patrols stationed at the scene, when one of the patrol vehicles developed a technical fault and the other three were trying to evacuate it.
In the clash one of the participants, Fadhel Salman Matrook, was injured and later died in hospital. An investigation has been ordered to find out the reason behind the incident.
Protestors gathered in groups of hundreds throughout the day in various areas of the Kingdom; Daih, Sanabis, Sitra, Nuwaidrat, Bilad Al Qadeem, Duraz, Jidhafs and areas in Budaiya.
Some of the rallies were reported to be peaceful while others ended in clashes between the riots police and protestors. The police opened tear gas and rubber bullets after they were attacked by protestors who threw stones at the police.
On Monday educational institutions, businesses, shopping centres and other companies were forced to close earlier than their usual closing time, fearing that the students and their staff might caught up in the chaos caused by the rallies.
