“The 23rd March is a significant day for the people of Pakistan and they celebrate it each year with a spirit of patriotism and great enthusiasm within the country and all over the world wherever they are settled.
The date reminds of the historical resolution passed by the All India Muslim League at its annual session held in 1940 at the Minto Park (now Iqbal Park) of Lahore demanding creation of a separate sovereign state for the Muslims in geographically contiguous regions in the sub continent where the Muslims were numerically in a majority. After passage of the resolution, it took about seven years to give final shape to the new state of Pakistan, which has been described by the historians as a unique and unparalleled event in the history of contemporary world,” ambassador in his message said.
“The remembrance of 23rd March, in particular, should work a flash back for the people of Pakistan and take them to the heroic freedom struggle of the Muslims of the sub continent culminating in passing of Pakistan resolution. They must get inspiration from the unique spirit of unity, harmony and sacrifice by their forefathers that enabled them to overpower their enemies and to emerge as a great nation.
Those are the traditions and principles, bequeathed to them by the freedom lovers and that can only serve as a beacon for them to preserve the survival, independence and solidarity of their country.”
“Pakistan historically enjoys friendly and brotherly relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain. The close people to people contacts and inter government interactions have been growing in strength.
Both countries share common perception on a host of issues of peace and development and regional security both in the Gulf as also in South and South-West Asia. Pakistan and Bahrain have a close identity of views on terrorism, non-proliferation, Palestine and Afghanistan, human rights, WTO-related issues, environment protection and drug trafficking. We also share similar views on a number of regional and international issues. Both Pakistan and Bahrain condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and call on the international community to address the root causes of terrorism.”
