The Representatives Council Chairman Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani and a number of MPs from all parliamentary blocs on Thursday submitted a request to form a probe committee on the irregularities recorded in Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO).
The Committee will look into Bapco’s employees and officials’ low attendance since February, 2011, the participation of some of them in the strike called for by some political associations and the administration’s decision to grant striking employees annual holidays during the strike.
The committee will also probe the sharp decrease in the company’s production during this period, which has affected the national economy badly, and the company’s execution of maintenance works at this period, which was originally scheduled for another time.
The committee will prepare a detailed report and submit it to the Representatives Council.
