The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s board decided to exempt BCCI members from paying their membership fees for the year 2011.
The move aims to alleviate the impacts of the exceptional circumstances the kingdom is currently witnessing on small and medium-size private sector companies
BCCI also expressed hope that the initiative will reduce its members’ obligations, noting that it has called for waiving all fees imposed on the private sector during this period, including labour and social insurance fees.
BCCI also called upon the government to take a number of steps aiming to help the private sector institutions overcome the current situation with the least losses.
Earlier, BCCI submitted a number of proposals to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Economic Development Board chairman in order to speed up economic recovery through sustaining economic achievements, encouraging foreign investors not to withdraw their deposits and providing suitable conditions for Bahrain firms to remain strong and protect them from the danger of bankruptcy .
BCCI called upon all the concerned sides to assume their national responsibilities in order to put the national economy back on track and restore the growth momentum.
