Following the five weeks of slower business activity due to unfolding events in the Kingdom, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) called upon the all concerned to ensure the safe business and trade environment.
In a statement the BCCI urged concrete steps aimed at restoring the safe environment that allows the return of normal life and allow the citizens and residents engage in normal activities.
It also appealed to everyone to observe restraint in these exceptional circumstances the country is going through.
The Chamber also condemned the vandalism which affected a number of shops and vital roads in the country and targeting citizens and residents, and called upon all to abide by the decisions and directives of the Bahrain Defence Force on the status of national safety, while stressing the need to accommodate everyone to the importance of exerting all efforts to return life to normal. “Bahrain cannot tolerate any more escalation in the situation and the public sector should start operating normally and provide services with a secure safety of staff which would increase the confidence of the citizens and residents, and among the security officials,” it said.
The BCCI also called upon the private sector to cope with the requirements of exceptional circumstance by opening shops and take the necessary measures to ensure the return of trade and economic activity back on the track.
and to meet the needs of citizens and residents, expressing deep regret about the situation, and stressed that everyone is invited to calm, including to return to Bahrain airspace positive and avoid the consequences of this grave crisis that disturb the atmosphere of national unity that prevailed, and confirmed the room should not drag the commercial sector is known to represent all communities and sects, creeds and races into the abyss of the crisis.
It also urged everyone to allow shopping malls, financial institutions and banking, service and business to function normally. The BCCI also condemned the attempts of some TV stations who have unleashed a nefarious campaign against the cohesiveness and oneness of Bahrain.
Such irresponsible broadcast, it said, will breed contempt, hatred, panic and division and nothing else.
The intimidation carried out by some groups by attacking businesses and trade centre will have long lasting impacts and couldn’t be compensated overnight.
The Chamber also appealed the authorities to issue necessary directives and steps aimed at reducing incidents of attacks on businesses.
“Bahraini society stands for unity and there is no room for sectarianism or division of the society on faith, sect or nationality.
“After this agonizing five weeks of disturbances there is a need to enhance the process of nation building by preserving the national character and achievements.”
