Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza, Minister of Energy, Chairman of National Oil and Gas Authority NOGA and Chairman of Bapco’s Board of Directors met on Wednesday in Awali with Chief Executive of Bapco, Faisal Al-Mahroos, Productivity Improvement Team and Project Consultant Earnst & Young. The meeting reviewed the Productivity Improvement Plan and benefits of the project.
Dr. Mirza was briefed on the work progress of the project and work teams assigned to implement its various stages. The meeting reviewed the transformation plan to move Bapco into a more productive & professional phase in future, and the capabilities enhancement scheme which aims at improving staff abilities in Bapco.
Dr. Mirza was also briefed on HR solutions and concepts as part of the project.
Dr. Mirza was updated on the “quick wins” targets achieved by the project in saving large amounts in Bapco and reducing costs, noting that the project contributed to saving $4.6 million in 2010 with expectations to save $5.4 million in 2011 and $5.5 million in 2012. The meeting also reviewed procurement improvement scheme as part of the project which also contributed to saving an amount of $0.8 million.
Dr. Mirza reviewed the future aspects of the project to ensure its continuity in coming years to serve the interests of the Kingdom.
Upon the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Mirza thanked Bapco’s Management, hailing its dedicated efforts in improving operations and productivity. He wished the project success in supporting the national economy and fulfilling the goals and aspirations of Bahrain.
