The process of selecting the best works for the e-Content award 2011 is one step closer with the start of the evaluation process on Saturday.
Earlier, the Organizing Committee for the Bahrain e-Content Award 2011 announced the completion of the registration process and the jury will remain in session for next five days to choose the winners in all categories.
Under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT) the e-Content award aims to encourage innovation in the field of e-Content in the Kingdom of Bahrain by awarding distinctive participations in 10 different categories. The winners will represent Bahrain in the World Summit Award (WSA).
The 13-member Jury consists of international and local experts who have vast ICT background experience in the field of information and communications technology.
The jury members are Nawaf Abdulrahman representing the Bahrain Internet Society as Chairman, Jack Boumans Senior Consultant in electronic media reporting in Netherlands, Professor Alfredo Ronchi Professor of computer aided design and politecnico di Milano (moderators), Ghazwa Sulaibeekh Lecturer, IT Society coordinator, College of IT at University of Bahrain, Ali Beshara Chief Position Control at Civil Service Bureau, Nader Ameeruddin Video Production Technician at University of Bahrain, Zuhair Al Kooheji Account Manager at Navigis MENA, Nani M. Butti Acting Chief of Information Technology at General Organization for Youths and Sport (GOYS), Mohammed AlDoseri Supervisor IT and Telecommunications at Kuwait Finance House (KFH), Hana A. Ghaffar Senior Computer Specialist at Ministry of Education, Abbas Kassem General Manager at ONYX, Basil Al Arrayedh Director of Communication and Affairs at Telecommunication Regularity Authority (TRA) and Ali Al Mishal eBusiness and Relationship Manager at Credimax.
“The jury will assess the participations submitted based on international standards adopted in the eContent industry which are implemented in the World Summit Award, in terms of the quality and comprehensiveness of content depth and genuineness, as well as ease of use and navigation, adding values through multimedia, attractive designs, the use of visual and sound effects, and high quality technology, in addition to the strategic importance of the participations in the development of information community at the world level,” the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Bahrain eContent Award 2011 Nawaf Abdulrahman in a statement said.
During the evaluation process, the Jury will be keen to apply the award guidelines and criteria fairly with all Bahraini participations that have participated in the Bahrain eContent Award 2011. The Jury, after evaluating and discussing the participations, will select the best work within the categories outline, to be awarded by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, in addition to qualifying three winning participation from each category, by the organizing committee of the Bahrain eContent Award 2011 for the World Summit Award to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The ten categories the Bahrain eContent Award 2011 are divided into eGovernment, eEntertainment, eHealt, eLearning, eScience, eInclusion, eBusiness, eCulture, eBanking and eMedia.
