Mark Satterfield, Chief Operating Officer for Middle East and Africa at Marriott International announced the appointment of Oliver Kahf as the multi-property General Manager of the Renaissance Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott & Marriott Executive Apartments Doha City Center. All three properties are scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2011.
As part of his role, Kahf will oversee the final stages of the pre-opening phase of the three properties and spearhead them through to a successful opening and operational phase. Kahf, who has had a long and successful 30-year career in hospitality, had earlier led the expansion of the 763-unit Renaissance Mumbai Convention Center Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments in 2008 as its Multi-Property General Manager.
“We are very excited to appoint Oliver Kahf as the Multi-Property General Manager for our exciting launch project in Qatar. We will clearly benefit from the vast experience that he will bring to the well established and seasoned pre-opening team in Doha. We look forward to his leadership and vision in this exciting growth phase,” Satterfield said, while announcing the appointment.
“I am thrilled to be back in Doha with these new Marriott properties in Qatar, each unique in their own way, and reinforcing Doha’s emergence as a top destination,” Kahf said.”
Kahf started his career with a number of F&B positions between 1980 and 1986 across Germany and Switzerland, and then took up an assignment with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. In 1988, Kahf moved to Doha in a Sales and Marketing role. In 1994, he took over as General Manager at what is today the Hua Hin Marriott, Thailand, and later moved to Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa. After a sabbatical from the industry, he rejoined the group in 2005 in Asia-Pacific as General Manager of Busan Marriott in South Korea, followed by roles in Vietnam and India.
