More than 400,000 Bahraini citizens and residents participated in the national unity rally and reposed their confidence in the leadership and the Government of Bahrain.
The rally was held in front of Ahmed Al Fateh Islamic Centre to reiterate their loyalty to the leadership and express total rejection of any social divide.
Bahraini citizens from all factions and religions from across the Kingdom crowded the area in their hundreds of thousands to re-emphasise national unity in Bahrain, stability and allegiance to the leadership. They underlined commitment to the legitimacy of the political system and the ruling family and called to engage immediately in the national dialogue without any preset conditions.
This was second rally since the opposition took to the streets demanding for greater reforms and more share in government especially for the shia’a community. Shaikh Abdullatif Al-Mahmood, Head of the Islamic Societies in his speech lauded the sagacity and far sightedness of the leadership for inviting the opposition for a national dialogue.
He demanded the removal of the make-shift sit in protests being staged by the opposition at Pearl Roundabout for the last 17 days.
“The occupation of the Peal Roundabout is causing inconvenience to the surrounding businesses due to its close vicinity to Manama and the Financial District. The congestion in traffic and fear of violence from the protesters is causing huge financial losses as during the peak hours traffic just can’t move,” he said.
