Hundreds of Pakistani families spent a sleepless night on Sunday as a group of thugs waving swords, daggers and batons entered the apartment buildings across the Manama causing sheer panic and fear among the dwellers of the central areas in the capital city.
This type of violence, lawlessness and even scenes of coldblooded murder of a Pakistani and leaving other seriously injured was another shock for the foreign communities in Bahrain, a country known as a cradle of peace and fraternity in the entire Gulf region.
According to many panicked families who spent whole night guarding their houses and families, the lawlessness and cold shouldered response of police have prompted them to relocate their kith and kin to some peaceful areas of the country.
Hundreds of families told 24X7 News that they have decided to take temporary shelters with friends, families and their community members in Muhrraq and Riffa areas as the Embassy of Pakistan has nothing to say.
The Pakistan Embassy, which was flooded with helpless Pakistanis on Monday, the embassy staff had nothing to offer adding further anxiety to the community members.
When the Charge d’Affaires at the Pakistan embassy Aurngzeb couldn’t be contacted due his other engagements and so far the embassy failed to offer any helping hand to many who caught up in this sectarian strife and being targeted by thugs with swords and daggers.
The violence erupted on early Sunday morning when the security officials failed to persuade the 350 protesters to remove the blockade on the King Faisal Highway and siege of the Bahrain Financial Harbour.
The Ministry of Interior spokesperson in a statement said the number of injured was 14 with two critical injuries in the head and stabbing of an officer by the protester.
The protesters, who have been camping around the BFH since March 6, on Sunday refused to listen to the public security, traffic police and Capital Governorate officials and on the contrary attacked the unarmed police officials leaving at least over one dozen injured and two of them seriously.
