The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad announced the appoint of its former Ambassador to Bahrain Ikramullah Mehsud for another three years term to serve as Pakistan ambassador in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Ambassador Mehsud relinquished the charge as Pakistan Ambassador in Bahrain at the end of January this year upon the completion of his term and since then was awaiting for new posting.
Ambassador Mehsud is arriving in Manama on Saturday and expected to meet the community leaders immediately after his arrival to draw a strategy to cope with emergency situation in the wake of target killings of Pakistani nationals by thugs last week.
The re-appointment of Ambassador Mehsud to Manama was also confirmed by the official spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad Tehmina Jannjua.
The Pakistan Government has decided to send Ambassador Mehsud back to Bahrain as part of the steps taken by the Pakistani government to tackle to situation following the some incidents of violence in Manama.
The former Chairman Pakistan Club and the board member of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Sajid Sheikh has welcomed decision and said it would help to bring situation under control much faster and easily.
“In this hour of crisis we need a person with experience and who knows the community and Government officials to discuss and help the people who caught up in the violence,” Sheikh told the community people who are currently in Pakistan Club’s temporary shelter.
He also thanked Aurangzeb for his efforts as the Charge d’ Affaires at the Pakistan embassy and said in this hour of crisis all segments of the community need to work together by co-operating with the local authorities.
Sheikh also urged the Club board to work more aggressively in reaching out the community especially those stuck in the areas where thugs carrying out executions of expatriates. “Community wants to see the Chairman of the club and other members more often visiting the temporary shelter to assess the situation. We have couple of board member of Pakistan Club working alone other board members should also join this noble cause,” Sheikh added.
Later, Charge d’ Affaires Aurangzeb said that embassy would remain at the beck and call of the Pakistani nationals and if some people need evacuation the embassy would help in speeding up the process of Immigration and flights back to their destinations.
“The embassy is ready to pay for medical, food, travel etc in this crisis and people who need help should contact the embassy to get an immediate help,” he added.
