Overwhelming majority of the Pakistan community decided to stay back in Bahrain and reiterated that the cowardly attacks and the recent spate of killings by thugs would not intimidate the community.
At a meeting held at the Pakistan Club, where over-300 dislocated members of the community staying at a temporary shelter, a leading Pakistan community figure Mohammed Sajid Sheikh told the community that leaving Bahrain due to fear ‘should not be an option.’
“The community is here to serve the Kingdom of Bahrain and all members have been working towards the betterment and development of the Kingdom and this march should continue,” he said.
“The violence and disturbances were just a matter of few weeks and things are coming back to normal very quickly and we should not make up our minds under any pressure whether should stay or leave but wisely,” Sheikh Sajid said, who said he along with other members of the community would make sure flow of all possible help during this temporary phase.
“The Pakistan workforce is significantly contributing to the development in Bahrain, both in public and private sectors. I am proud of their hard work and achievements. May I stress here that it is binding for our community to maintain the existing healthy and positive reputation of fully respecting the local laws and culture and serving Bahrain towards its bright future,” Ambassador Mehsud told the community.
The Deputy Head of Mission Aurangzeb also assured the community members for any support the community needs during this crisis.
“We have got instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Islamabad to provide all possible assistance for the security, safety, or even evacuation, if needed,” he said.
The Pakistan Community has another temporary shelter for families at the Pakistan School in Isa Town.
The Ministry of Social Development along with other Government Departments including the Royal Court has been very actively extending co-operation with the Pakistan Community at all levels.
The critical phase of relocation and rehabilitation of those affected families will start this week and for this phase community leaders and Pakistan embassy is busy in charting out a plan by addressing the issues one by one.
The proposal of shifting families in more secure and less tense areas is being discussed and once things are final through embassy channels the families will be contacted to relocate their premises.
