Shura Council Chairman and members took pride in being received by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa last Friday at Al Sakhir Palace, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander.
In a statement issued, the Council hailed the meeting with HM King Hamad in which he gave them an update on the incidents witnessed by the Kingdom recently, their local, regional and global repercussions and the threat they posed to Bahrain’s security and sovereignty.
The Council backed all measures by HM King Hamad so far to address the critical situation the kingdom is witnessing, praising his decision to declare a three-month State of National Safety as the best means to safeguard the country’s safety and ensure security for the citizens.
Shura Council Chairman and members also valued highly HM the King’s assertion that the reform march will continue un-wavered and that all doors will remain wide-open for all Bahraini society’s factions and parties to engage in a comprehensive national dialogue.
They also reiterated their full support for the seven principles announced by HRH Crown Prince i.e. a Representative Council with full prerogatives, a government that represents the will of the Bahraini people, fair electoral constituencies, naturalization, combating corruption, state-owned properties and addressing sectarian polarization, urging all parties to join the dialogue soon.
“It’s an opportunity for all of us to set up a better future for our nation,” they said.
The Council also stressed that national unity should be consolidated through all possible means, vowing they will spare no effort in order to solidify the cohesion of Bahrain citizens, as the best guarantor of domestic peace, security and stability.
They also highlighted the need to intensify contacts between the Kingdom’s legitimate leadership and the citizens in order to enhance the democratic march in the Kingdom.
The Council also lauded the crucial role played by the security forces, National Guard and the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) in promoting security nationwide, praising the GCC states’ keenness to safeguard Bahrain’s security and stability through deploying troops from the Joint Peninsula Shield.
The Council also hailed the supportive stances towards Bahrain voiced by brotherly and friendly countries and their call for the need to respond positively and immediately for the dialogue initiative of HRH Crown Prince, as the best and most civilised means of bringing about reforms.
The Council also rallied behind HM King Hamad’s call for consolidating social cohesion and resuming their work so as to boost national economy and secure their livelihoods.
It also stressed the importance of enhancing security and stability across the kingdom in order to help restore normalcy in the country, calling upon all parties to cooperate with the security forces in this regard.
