The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced that it had revoked all the licenses issued to 2Connect WLL.
The TRA decision was in the light of issuance of the authority’s board of directors’ resolution number (2) of 2011 concerning the revocation of all licenses granted to 2Connect WLL. The resolution stated that all licenses of 2Connect shall be revoked within one week of publication of the resolution in the official gazette, which coincides with the 27th of March 2011.
“As a result of this revocation, all telecommunications services provided to 2Connect’s customers will be permanently disconnected once the deadline stated in the resolution comes to pass, as article (24)(a) of the telecommunications law prohibits the provision of telecommunications services without a license,” the TRA statement said.
“To expedite the process of procuring replacement services to ensure no interruptions occur to their telecommunications services, especially for business customers”, and reaffirmed that “TRA is ready to provide any and all assistance necessary to such customers to facilitate transition to a different service provider,” said TRA’s Director of Information and Communications Technologies Ahmed Aldoseri who also urged all customers.
TRA’s resolution also includes the revocation of all radio frequency licenses assigned to 2Connect.
