Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) reported a significant increase in sales in the first quarter of 2011 despite the political unrest which took place in Bahrain during the month of March, according to a statement issued by Alba.
“Alba’s Q1 2011 sales volumes increased to 217,000 metric tonnes compared with the 201,000 metric tonnes in Q1 2010. Sales for the month of March alone increased 12.6% versus March 2010,” it added.
“The higher overall sales were as a result of higher production based upon productivity improvements implemented by the company. In addition, Alba was able to capitalize on strong global demand to significantly increase high margin billet sales,” the statement added.
“The vast majority of Alba’s employees attended to their duties despite the political unrest to ensure Alba operating at full capacity. The dedicated employees who attended work displayed the highest level of commitment and loyalty to the company for which we are forever grateful,” Alba’s Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said, while commenting on this achievement through the team work shown by Alba’s employees.
