The National Democratic Action Society (Wa’ad) has been suspended and its premises have been shut down until further notice, the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Military Public Security has announced.
The measure has been taken in line with the Royal Decree 18 for 2011 on the proclamation of the State of National Safety and under the provision of paragraphs 8 and 9 of the 5th article of the above-mentioned decree.
Its website has also been blocked for posting a statement on April 3, 2011 defaming the armed forces and spreading false news that foment sedition and drives wedges among citizens.
The statement has also criticized the investigation procedures undertaken by the military prosecution in the cases related to the proclamation of the State of National Safety, despite the ban issued by the Military Public Prosecutor on publishing.
Legal action has also been taken against Wa’ad assistant secretary-general Abdulhamid Abdulrahman Murad after he was arrested and questioned regarding the above-mentioned statement.
