A 48-year-old Bahraini suspect, charged with spying for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, alongside other unidentified Iranians, appeared on Wednesday before the First High Criminal Court and pleaded not guilty.
The accused denied accusations of providing a foreign country and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard with intelligence information about military sites in Bahrain.
The Bahraini suspect was arrested after his name was mentioned in connection with the spying cell case in Kuwait, the Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs said.
He was referred to the Public Prosecution in Bahrain and was charged with spying for a foreign country in 2002 and 2010 with the intention to harm the national military, political and economic interests.
The First High Criminal Court decided to adjourn the hearing to May 2.
