Bahrain Industrial Investment Part (BIIP) has attracted 70 export oriented companies and high value projects fetching BD460 million investments.
The BIIP has so far allotted 79 per cent of the Park area which would further stimulate the investment activities and create an estimated 9000 jobs.
This was disclosed during the visit of the Minister for Industry and Commerce Dr Hassan Fakhro to BIIP and met with Bahraini and international companies located there.
Built to international standards the Park comprises 2,500,000 square meters of land providing a unique opportunity to business looking to locate manufacturing and international services operations in the Middle East.
During his visit to the Park the Minister met with S & A Abahsain Group, one of the leading companies in Saudi Arabia, Abahsain which invested $65 million in BIIP and currently employ 194 staff in the manufacture of E-CR glass fibers, in technology collaboration with Glass Strand Inc. California.
Siemens German, the leading German engineering company has recently established this year a Middle East engineering center to repair and re-manufacture components for steel mills and furnaces.
Kraft Foods USA, one of the world’s leading food companies, Kraft have invested $40 million in a cheese and powder beverages manufacturing plant currently employing 246 staff.
MTQ Corporation Singapore, specialised engineering Services Company, listed on the Singapore Stock, are investing $20 million to provide specialist engineering services and components for the oil and gas industry in the Gulf. The project now at start up employs 30 staff and will employ 100 plus at full production.
Creative Design, Bahraini owned Creative Design started production in BIIP in 2008 manufacturing kitchen and bedroom furniture. They currently employ 75 staff and are in the process of planning the expansion of their factory on adjoining land to their current factory.
International Laboratory Services is a privately owned Bahraini company employing 56 staff providing specialist laboratory analyses.
The Minister thanked the international and Bahraini companies for their contribution to development of Bahrain and assured them of the government’s commitment to continue to enhance the competitiveness of Bahrain as a business location.
