The Cabinet gave the green light on Sunday to remove buildings erected illegally on state-owned land plots and those encroaching on public roads.
The move followed complaints by some ministries about disruption of some of its projects due to illegal use of land plots allocated to them alongside other inconveniences, the Cabinet heard. It ordered to enforce law and regulations against all offences and illegal exploitation of state-owned lands.
The Cabinet discussed progress of work in some housing projects including Salmabad flats. In view of a delay in equipping the project with basic services despite completion of the construction work, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa instructed to speed up such services including electricity, water and drainage system. He directed to abide by next June deadline.
In light of a memorandum by the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister regarding construction and investment projects licences issued in 2010, the ministerial council recommended taking into consideration the requirements of safety, the need to protect cultural and archaeological sites and easy flow of traffic when issuing such licences. The Cabinet also demanded these projects be concordant with the kingdom’s strategic structural plan and be executed nationwide.
The Cabinet spotlighted the sewage system projects and their capability to cope with growing population and continuous urban expansion in the kingdom. It directed the Ministerial Committee for Services and Infrastructure to coordinate with the Works Ministry and prepare a scheme to upgrade Tubli Wastewater Treatment Plant and study the construction of new ones in addition to Muharraq’s.
HRH the Prime Minister hailed the address of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander which reflected the royal keenness to boost security and stability, maintain national unity and impose the rule of law and its sovereignty.
Chairing the Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace on Sunday he underlined the need to confront any attempt to jeopardize national achievements, fundamentals, security, stability and unity.
