The Representatives Council has strongly slammed the blatant Iranian interference in Bahrain’s domestic affairs, asserting the statements made by Iranian officials recently are in disharmony with the principles of good neighbourliness, the charters of the United Nations and Organisation of Islamic Conference and international laws and norms.
In a statement issued today following its regular weekly session, the parliament urged Iran to respect the Kingdom’s sovereignty and independence and the diplomatic and parliamentary ties bonding the two countries, holding it responsible for the consequences of those irresponsible statements.
The council also called upon Iran to put an end to those inciting speeches which serve no aim but sow dissension and trigger troubles.
In the same statement, the council rejected any assault on the GCC countries, especially Saudi Arabia, noting that GCC states are bound by solid historical relations and common destiny.
The council also stressed that calls to withdraw the Peninsula Shield troops from Bahrain are totally rejected as those forces’ deployment in Bahrain is legitimate since they were dispatched at the request of the kingdom, in line with the joint GCC Defence agreements.
The Parliament also praised brotherly UAE’s move to submit a petition to the UN protesting Iranian interference in the GCC internal affairs, calling upon the GCC states to hold an emergency meeting and declare a GCC Confederation so as to avert all external threats.
The Representatives council also requested noble Bahraini citizens to adhere to national unity and stand united behind their wise leadership in order to maintain Bahrain’s cohesion and strength under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander.
