A crackdown is being launched against unlicensed buildings, it was announced on Saturday.
“Several unlicensed cabins, stores and warehouses have been removed in the past period”, Municipalities and Urban Affairs Planning Minister Dr. Jumaa bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi in a statement said.
The ministry is now surveying unlicensed buildings around Bahrain to be removed. “The initiative aimed at organizing construction projects and avert any encroachments on public roads”, Dr Al-Kaabi said.
The Municipalities and Urban Affairs Planning Ministry is also coordinating with the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry and the Housing Ministry to demarcate appropriate locations for public facilities and worshipping venues as part of the general plan for housing cities. The drive is in line with the wise leadership’s directives to earmark necessary locations for such schemes. Dr. Al-Kaabi lauded the cooperation of the security authorities in removing violations, calling on owners of such unlicensed premises to take the initiative to raze them down not to encroach on public roads.
“Demarcating locations for worshipping venues and private facilities will contribute to future plans to meet the needs of each area”, Dr. Al-Kaabi.
