An eleven member Bahrain’s parliamentarian delegation led by MP Dr Ahmed Ali condemned the attacks on the Pakistani community last month during protests.
The delegation met with the Ambassador of Pakistan Ikramullah Mehsud and thanked the Pakistani community’s support by standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Bahraini brothers during the need of the hour.
The delegation praises the role of the Pakistani community members during the past six weeks and hoped that with the normalcy was coming back to normal all members of the community, dislocated families and injured individuals would be rehabilitated through the joint efforts of both governments and the members of the civil society.
Other members include Dr Ali Zayed, Hassan Al Dossary, Mohammed Hashim, Dr Mohammed Saeed, Shaikh Adnan, Mohammed Ismael, Mr Jalal and Abdul Haleem.
The parliamentarians condemned the incidents of violence targeting the Pakistan community members and also extended their condolences to the family members of those who were killed in Bahrain.
“Pakistan and Bahrain are the same family and the deliberate attempts to create wedge between Bahrainis and Pakistanis will yield any results as at end of the day we have to live together,” Dr Ahmed said.
Dr Ahmed said that the entire Bahrain has had condemned the violence and nobody in this country would condone the acts of violence carried out by a small group of people.
“Pakistan community has been part and parcel of Bahrain’s success story as this community played a very pivotal role in the development of the national economy over the past many decades. We will continue to work together and help those individuals and families affected by the acts of thugs,” Dr Ahmed assured.
MP Hassan Al Dossary appreciated the Government of Pakistan’s stance during the crisis and said that Pakistan community’s sacrifices would be remembered in future.
Giving his own eye-witness account of violence in Budaiya he said that a small group of people attacked unarmed and peaceful poor workers with batons and start beating them without any reason.
“This is something new in Bahrain as expatriates always been part of our society and every Bahraini respect the expatriates,” he explained.
Al Dossary also condemned the acts of thugs by terrorizing peaceful residents through violence on the roads and even cold-blood murders.
MP Mohammed Hashim also condemned the violence said that Bahrain would not allow anyone in future to repeat the violence against peaceful citizens and residents.
“With the gloomy days of protests are over Bahrain seeks greater co-operation with Pakistani community at all levels,” he said.
Dr Mohammed Saeed appreciated the efforts of the Pakistani embassy by helping the community members during the crisis. “We appreciate the steps taken by the Pakistan embassy to address the emergency situation including the temporary shelters for those who dislocated during the crisis.
“The loyalty and commitment of the Pakistan community is evident from fact there were no mass exodus from Bahrain during extreme crisis. If they would have left it would have weakened the entire case of peaceful Bahrain, the country known for its tolerance, values and brotherhood. Pakistanis are part of our society and they should not be afraid of cowardly acts of violence,” he added.
MP Shaikh Adnan and MP Mohammed Ismael affirmed their support to the Pakistani community and said nobody condone the acts of violence witnessed by Bahrain perhaps first time in its history.
Ambassador Ikramullah Mehsud thanked the parliamentary delegation and said that embassy would seek working closely with all national institutions of Bahrain for the future building of this great nation.
“Our relations with Bahrain go back centuries when spice traders frequently used Bahrain as trading hub and take back pearls from Bahrain. Pakistan community will remain a vital part of the Bahraini society as Pakistanis consider this country a second home,” Ambassador added.
