Peninsula Shield Force Commander Major General Mutlaq bin Salem Al Azaima’a disproved the allegations that the peninsula shield is in Bahrain to suppress the opposition, noting that these forces are in fact the source of confidence and safety to Bahraini people.
“Our mission is to protect the Kingdom of Bahrain from any external aggression, as well as its vital institutions, strategic centers, camps and military bases,” Okaz newspaper said quoting Major General Mutlaq.
He also noted that Bahrain possesses an efficient defense force with high levels of training, and should not be under estimated. And all its affiliates are devoted to perform their duty.
General Mutlaq hailed the Bahraini leadership ability to contain the entire spectrum of Bahraini people, whereas a true citizen realizes the Bahraini leadership’s love for its people.
He stressed that the advanced armament system that the Peninsula shield has, enables it to face any external aggression faced by any country of the Gulf, due to the fine Arabian routes of the people, and the variety of advanced weapons directed by brave and loyal men.
He clarified that the treaties signed by the GCC countries are all about protection, as any country when busy in resolving internal affairs, all the military efforts will be internal, which makes it in need of brotherly protection of its surroundings.
“Which is what the GCC treaties have decided on, noting that Bahrain’s call to the Peninsula shield forces asserts that there are signs of a threat.
“Our presence in Bahrain will continue as long as it is needed,” said General Mutlaq.
“The forces will possibly return once, twice or thrice for training and performing joint exercises with our dear GCC countries.”
He said that whoever considers the peninsula shield troops in Bahrain as an invasion, is probably someone with an agenda and hostile tendencies. “This is not the first time for the peninsula shield troops to enter a Gulf country.”
He also called Bahrainis to wisely consider the facts that some TV channels are twisting. “And to not follow those who aim at weakening their will.”
