His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa underscored the importance of Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) as a vital facility which was set up to provide optimum medical services.
“However, some people wanted this facility to derail off its noble role by disrupting its services and blatantly encroaching on the humanitarian principles of the medical profession,” he said as he paid an inspection visit to the complex in the presence of BDF Commander-in-Chief Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
“Who tried to efface the humanitarian identity of SMC by twisting its role and turning it into a headquarters to plot terrorist acts and conspiracies against the nation will get the punishment they deserve,” he added.
“Thanks to the dedication of the loyalists, this vital facility has been able to resume its natural role and will continue to provide medical services for people,” he stressed vowing to prevent recurrence of what has happened.
HRH the Prime Minister was received on arrival at SMC by Minister of State for Defence Affairs Lieutenant General Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and Social Development Minister Dr. Fatima Al Balushi, who is also the Acting Health Minister.
HRH the Premier was accompanied during the visit by his Advisor Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and Deputy Premier Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
At a meeting with the hospital’s medical and administrative staff, he asserted the government’s support to them lauding their great work and humanitarian role in serving the nation. He urged to focus efforts in this phase on upgrading the hospital’s performance and services.
“We have been keen to groom Bahrainis to become highly-qualified doctors and medical crew by providing them with top quality education and training.”
“Yet, unfortunately some of them were adamant to veer off their humanitarian work and act against the interest of their homeland which has been eager to educate and train them,” he affirmed.
“Our country has never witnessed similar circumstances or disruption of the work of a humanitarian establishment but, thanks God, we have been able to overcome that. However, what is regrettable is that the damage was caused by misled citizens,” HRH the Prime Minister explained crediting loyal employees who challenged hardships and continued to work honestly despite all difficulties.
“Our people’s patriotic stance will remain memorable and will be cherished by future generations,” he stressed.
He also hailed cooperation among all medical institutions in Bahrain expressing satisfaction at return of work to normal at SMC.
He thanked the BDF Commander-in-Chief as well as BDF, Interior Ministry and National Guard personnel for their remarkable role in boosting the kingdom’s security and stability
