Seven people accused of murdering policemen Kashef Ahmed Mandhour and Mohammed Farooq Abdulsamad have appeared before the Lower National Safety Court.
The defendants are Ali Abdulla Hassan Al-Sankis, Qassim Hassan Matar Ahmed, Saeed Abduljalil Saeed, Isa Abdulla Kadhim Ali, Abdulaziz Abdulridha Ibrahim Hussain, Sadoq Ali Mahdi and Hussein Jaafar Abdulkarim. The court heard the defence witnesses’ testimonies and allowed lawyers to submit medical documents. The case has been adjourned till April 24 to hear the final pleadings.
The court also allowed relatives and representatives of human rights authorities and centres to see the defendants following the session. In the second case, Abdulla Mohammed Habib appeared before the same court, accused of attempted murder of policemen for terror ends in addition to destroying public money. The case has been adjourned till April 21 to hear witnesses. The third case Hamad Yusif Kadhim appeared before the court to face charges of attempted murder of policemen. He will reappear before the court on April 21. The court decided to appoint a defence lawyer for the defendant.
Hassan Abdulwahab has also stood trial, accused of covering up another suspect and holding a weapon stolen from a policeman. The defendant will reappear before the Lower National Safety Court on April 21. In the fifth case, ten people accused of kidnapping a policeman appeared before the Lower National Safety Court to face charges.
They will also stand trial anew in a session scheduled to be held on April 21. Suleiman Yahya Hamza has also appeared before the Lower National Safety Court, accused of attempted murder of policemen. The court decided to put off the session till April 21.
