The Lower National Safety Court has heard four criminal cases on Sunday, it was announced by the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Military Prosecutor General.
Concerning the murder of policemen Kashef Ahmed Mandhour and Mahmoud Farooq Abdulsamad, in which Ali Abdulla Hassan Al-Sankis, Qassim Hassan Matar Ahmed, Saeed Abduljalil Saeed, Isa Abdulla Kadhim Ali, Abdulaziz Abdulridha Ibrahim Hussain, Sadoq Ali Mahdi and Hussein Jaafar Abdulkarim are accused, the Military General Prosecution delivered its final presentation containing a detailed description of the incident, evidence, including the defendants’ confessions and replied to the defence’s arguments.
It also indicated that the defendants committed their crime for terrorist reasons and attacked an employee while on duty on purpose, and called for inflicting the capital punishment on them.
After that, the court heard the defence team’s concluding presentation in which they pleaded their clients not guilty, and decided to adjourn the case till April 28, 2011 for further deliberations.
In a second case, Abdulla Mohammed Habib appeared before the court over allegations of attempted murder of policemen for terror ends in addition to destroying public money. The case has been adjourned till April 28 at the request of the defence for the final pleading.
The court also heard witnesses related to the case of Suleiman Yahya Hamza who is accused of attempting to murder a number of policemen for terrorist ends, and decided, under the request of the defence, to put off the case till next April 26 to hear defence witnesses.
In the fourth case, in which Hamad Yusif Kadhim is charged of attempted murder of policemen and spoiling public money, the court appointed a defence lawyer for the defendant, submitted evidence and decided to hear the lawyer’s final pleading on April 28.
Present were Alice Sama’an and Tariq Al Saffar from the National Human Rights Organisation, Salman Nasser from the Gulf European Center for Human Rights, the defendants and their relatives.
