The first four weekly winners of the Zain National Mobile Phone and e-Waste Recycling Campaign are Hanan Abdulla, Jamal Abdulqader, Rashid Sanad and Mohammad Aftab whose participation in the campaign by disposing the old and unusable mobile phone safely at the Zain store won them a brand new BlackBerry Torch Handset. There is a raffle prize for one lucky winner each week.
This first-ever national initiative is helping to safeguard Bahrain from the pollution caused by carelessly discarded mobile phones – one mobile phone, which contains metal, plastic and chemicals can contaminate up to 600,000 litres of water. Zain Bahrain has placed disposal boxes in the 11 different Experience Shops across the Kingdom and signed up with a reputed environmental agency Enviroserve for safe disposal of the discarded handsets so that the environment, as well as the data that may be in the old phones, are protected from misuse.
Zain customers have supported this environmental initiative by dropping off over 200 old, unusable and broken handsets for safe and environmentally friendly recycling as part of one of the company’s key CSR initiatives in 2011.
“Everyone is encouraged to participate in order to help the environment and maintain a clean Bahrain. Drop off your mobiles and you can be a lucky raffle winner next week,” Zain in a statement added.
