Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology and for the fourth consecutive year, the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2011 takes place in the Kingdom of Bahrain on the 16th to the 18th of May. The event will have the presence of international and local experts and leaders in the Information and Communication Technology sector.
With the countdown to the opening of the forum , the organizing committee has announced the official programme and activites that will take place. The official inauguration of the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2011 will be held in Isa Cultural Center on the 16th of May, where the winners of the eGovernment Excellence Awards will be announced and awarded. The forum will then commence with its workshops, conferences and Bahrain IT Expo from the 17th to the 18th of May at the Gulf Convention Center at the Gulf Hotel. The event will also include announcing the winners for the Arab eContent Award and the Bahrain eContent Award 2011 during a special ceremony on the evening of the 17th of May, where His Highness the Deputy Prime Minister will officially inaugurate the Bahrain IT Expo and honor the winners with their awards.
The organizing committee of the Bahrain IT Expo 2011, announced that it has taken all measures to ensure an immense participation for all exhibitors and visitors which include the eGovernment Authority, a number of ministries and governmental entities from the Kingdom of Bahrain, various eGovernment Authorities for the GCC and different countries from the world as well as ICT companies and private sector entities.
The labour funding (Tamkeen) will support the participants at the Bahrain IT Expo by covering 80% of the registration and exhibition stand fees as an initiative to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through the Growth Assistance Scheme (GAS).
A list of prominent speakers will participate at the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2011 as well as a group of elite leaders and experts in the ICT field from the GCC and countries from all over the world. This impressive assembly is destined to exchange expertise, discuss innovations, discover new platforms and to outline future plans for the eGovernment.
Many other topics related to the latest technologies employed in the domain of the public and the businesses sector including the open data form will be explained from different aspects as well as the discussing the major challenges encountered to augment the transparency level and means to promote eParticipation amongst citizens and to provide public services.
Moreover, there will be a concentration on defining the new ICT innovations such us the (social media web tools 2.0) and its role in elaborating the public sector and its presence as a tool to activate marketing techniques including experiences encountering by other countries as well as its definition according to the UN.
Additionally, the forum will also include the European Union’s experience in the domain of (Cloud Computing), the new system followed as platform to provide service to the government or private sectors.
