Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid underlined the importance of the bilateral relations with the US and that both countries were keen to further bolster these historic ties.
He highlighted the importance of the strategic Bahraini-US relations and stressed that the two friendly countries’ joint keenness to further consolidate their deep-rooted solid partnership and the common values they share.
He was speaking following the US Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg and his delegation’s visit to the kingdom, Shaikh Khalid reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to the pioneering reform march spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa who has set up a state of law and institutions, in which freedom of expression and human rights are respected and the citizens’ rights to live decently in peace and stability are safeguarded.
“This reform process will continue unabated, as it is a pillar of progress and development,” he affirmed, reasserting the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing political dialogue engaging all citizens of the one-family Bahraini society, within the framework of the existing constitutional institutions.
Shaikh Khalid also expressed confidence that the Kingdom is capable of emerging from the recent critical situation stronger and more cohesive with its solid social fabric that has always represented a success story of peaceful and civilisational co-existence between all social components, praising the crucial role played by the friendly USA in safeguarding the region’s security and stability.
