Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Commander-in-Chief Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa has paid an inspection visit to the Military Judicial Directorate.
He was welcomed on arrival by Military Judicial Director Colonel Yusif Rashid Fulaifil. He was updated on work procedures at the National Safety Courts, the public military prosecution, the military courts and the legal affairs, and then attended part of national safety court session.
“The military judiciary reflects the BDF’s judicial strides under the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the Supreme Commander”, he said.
He described the judiciary in the era of HM King Hamad as being honest and modern, stressing its keenness to guarantee citizens and residents’ rights and further anchor security and stability in the peace-loving Bahraini society.
He also hailed the efforts of the military judiciary staff under the State of National Safety, stressing their firm keenness to ensure justice is done for each party to get its due rights.
“The ongoing trials are being conducted in special courts rather than military courts under the Royal decree proclaiming the State of National Safety”, Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa said. He pointed out the nature of National Safety Courts, which comprise two civil judges and military counterpart, which reflects Bahrain’s just judicial system.
He stressed the fact that the National Safety Court ensures all defendants’ right to appeal the court verdicts, in addition to all other legal warrants.
Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa pointed out the possibility for NGOs, rights watchdogs and media representatives to attend the trials, thus reflecting Bahrain’s firm keenness to respect its international commitments regarding human rights. He also stressed the strong credentials of the Bahrain’s military judiciary and its development and modernization prospects and its outstanding training programmes, regarding investigation, military trials, search warrants, arrests and pleadings. Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa hailed the efforts of the officials in charge of National Safety Court to ensure justice is done for all parties to get their due rights.
