His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology on Tuesday inaugurated the Bahrain IT Expo 2011 an organized event in line with the Fourth Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2011 that has commenced on 16th, May, 2011.
Shaikh Mohammed underlined the importance of this expo and the Kingdom’s commitment to the development of the ICT sector by hosting this forum in the Kingdom of Bahrain. “This would not have reached this success with the open policy in the reform project of His Majesty the King, HRH the Prime Minister and HRH the Crown Prince.”
His Highness also added that this expo has an increase in participants and visitors yearly which highlights the importance of ICT as well as its advantages in spreading awareness, facilitating peoples’ lives and allowing them to better perform in order to save time and effort.
His Highness has also visited the expo section and discovered its content from ICT products, electronics and IT systems.
At the end, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed extended his thanks to the eGovernment Authority and all of the participants in organizing and preparing for this expo, wishing everyone the best of luck and success.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa has also honored the winners with the Arab eContent Award 2011 and the Bahrain eContent Award 2011 as an appreciation and recognition for their efforts and their exceptional innovative in ICT field, as well as creative projects.
During the award ceremony, Kamal Bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Cabinet Affairs gave a speech and highlighted that the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum is in line with the large and rapid advancements in ICT that we witnessed on an international level today, indicating that with all pride this year’s event will include two prestigious awards under the United Nations World Summit Award (WSA) organized by the United Nations which are: the Bahrain eContent Award 2011 and the Arab eContent Award 2011 which will be honored by his Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee.
The Minister said that the IT Expo was vital event where all experts in the ICT domain assemble where they can get to discover the latest orientations, exchanged information on an international echelon in this domain whether it is related to individuals, ministries or private sectors. “This IT expo is also an ideal opportunity to communication and for ICT experts to meet with eGovernment Authorities’ representatives and responsible from the private sector to showcase the latest IT products and eGovernment services in addition to creating solid international business relations in the domain of ICT to better serve everyone and achieve advantageous outcomes for the country .”
Nawaf Abdulrahman, Vice President of Bahrain’s Internet Society Head of the Organizing Committee for the Bahrain eContent Award gave a speech, followed by a speech by Professor Peter Bruck, Chairman of the World Summit Awards who stated in his speech the visible efforts and the high level of quality in works and ideas presented in the region which will play a vital role in developing ICT in an international level and the recognized efforts in the Kingdom of Bahrain in this specific domain.
