Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi has asserted the Kingdom’s keenness to further promote cooperation with UNESCO mainly in the educational field.
He was speaking at a meeting in Paris with UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova. He informed her about what has happened in Bahrain recently and the impact of the regrettable incidents on the students due to involving them in political and sectarian conflicts.
He pointed out the danger of the political unrest, which gripped Bahrain and was in breach of the kingdom’s laws, stressing its negative effect on the educational process.
“Bahrain has been able to overcome the crisis. The Education Ministry and the University of Bahrain (UoB) are currently making massive efforts in the field of psychological and social counseling to tackle the negative outcome of the incidents and boost the texture of brotherly co-existence between all,” he said.
Present at the meeting were Bahraini Ambassador to France, the Permanent representative at UNESCO, Dr. Nasser Yussef Al Balushi, UoB President Dr. Ibrahim Janahi, Cultural Advisor Professor Farida Ali Murad, UNESCO officials and the Education Ministry’s delegation.
