Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa took part in the second Joint Meeting of the GCC-China Strategic Dialogue, held here this morning under the chairmanship of both UAE Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister expressed Bahrain and other GCC states’ concern over the Iranian interference in their internal affairs which, he said, constitutes a violation of international conventions and principles of good neighborliness.
He also asserted that the deployment of the Peninsula Shield Forces in the Kingdom was legitimate as it was carried out in accordance with the joint defense agreements signed between GCC countries.
The two sides also stressed that relations between the countries of the region must be based on the principle of good neighborliness, full respect of countries’ sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.
They also backed all measures taken by the GCC member states for the sake of safeguarding their security and stability.
Ways of bolstering GCC-Chinese ties at all levels, the latest regional and global developments and reform of the United Nations Security Council were also spotlighted.
