The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said that that the recent statement made by the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Akbar Salehi related to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s speech was a positive step and an encouraging one.
Shaikh Khalid indicated that such a step would help improve bilateral relations between the two Islamic countries.
With regard to Salehi’s statement calling for fulfilling the demands of the people in the kingdom, Shaikh Khalid affirmed that any demand sought to be achieved by the people of the Kingdom of Bahrain was to be done through the constitution which is one of the pillars of the reform project in the era of His Majesty the King. Moreover, he said that any demand can also be achieved through parliamentary and legislative means within the framework of the freely elected Representative council.
Shaikh Khalid highlighted that the interests of the region called for the preservation of stability and security through building good relations with all countries.
He added that it was important to reinforce principles of mutual respect and embedding trust and good neighbouring to encourage better ties specifically GCC countries with its Muslim neighbour Iran. This in turn he said would benefit all and helps achieve all aspirations.
